What’s the buzz about Nanbrol ® Masterbatch?
Nano-reinforcement is all the rage these days in the elastomer literature. But it has not been available in commercial quantities until today.
Nanbrol® is the first commercially available elastomer masterbatch that has been pre-reinforced with substantially exfoliated nano-sized materials. Thus, Nanbrol® replaces all or part of the elastomer and reinforcing components of a compound.
Only pure Nanbrol® based compounds have the highest exfoliation and intercalation rates offered by Perastic. High Density masterbatch – available in NBR – works so well our customers have asked for it. For best results, use pure 100% Nanbrol for best results.
Use Nanbrol® to formulate your own proprietary compounds, to add nano fill as masterbatch, or coordinate with Perastic LLC to formulate for you, compounds that meet the toughest specifications for product applications. Sulphur, or peroxide optimized masterbatches can be used to achieve your desired compound characteristics. Durometers typically range from 40 Shore A or lower up to 90 Shore A.
Nanbrol ® based compounds perform better than traditional compounds.
- Dynamic Properties: Lower heat build-up under dynamic operating conditions
- Thermal Resistance: Compounds typically withstand temperatures 25°C higher when made with 100% Nanbrol®
- Barrier Attributes: Micro barrier creates tortuous path for increased resistance to gases and solvents
- Fatigue Performance: Lower loadings and smaller particles translate to less chance for crack propagation
- Dimensional Stability: Better barrier properties means that plasticizer is retained longer; Elastomer-rich compound often means that less plasticizer is required
Manufacturers whose current compound uses require improved materials performance should evaluate Nanbrol® in their applications.
You may be thinking this tough rubber must be too tough for me to process. Not so. The shear thinning effect of nano-clay creates an uncured elastomer that has lower max torque during the curing process while delivering higher modulus in the vulcanizate.
